Overview |
So who is Bragg? Sir Lawrence Bragg was an Australian scientist. In 1940s Bragg and his associate J. F. Nye conducted experiment modeling crystal lattices using a bubble raft built in the design below. Using this bubble raft Bragg was able to simulate atomic interactions in metals and was therefore able to create a video for educational purposes. |
Limitations to his model?
In his design, Bragg didn’t model alloyed metals which is another important aspect in replicating crystal structures. At the time, the lack of certain technologies caused Bragg to have a poor representation of effects of thermal agitation in lattices as well as poor video quality. |
